Introducing our original fundraising committee
Sam Bremner
After completing my first half marathon at Barnes Green and raisng over £1908 in October 2010, I felt there was so much more I could do that maybe would have a bigger impact by involving more people in the local community to raise a huge amount of money for 2 needy charities - thats basically how the idea came about to run 7 marathons in 7 days . Its generally not until someone close to you is affected by cancer that you find out about the work that these charities continually carry out- and so selflessly. My feeling is that I cannot take away the pain and discomfort that Ashton and children like him have to endure, but I can certainly contribute to support CLIC Sargent so as they can continue their amazing work with the children and their families. In addition to this I have been a member of Henfield Leisure Centre for 5 years now and realise that it is a vital part of the local community, and like most charity run organisations they need our support.
.........so you don't have to be as mad as myself and Malcolm by doing all 7 marathons, you can run as part of a relay, maybe with work colleagues or even your running club or just a group of mad friends that want to help and have fun at the same time.
If you have any questions or would like to help in any way you can contact me on [email protected] or indeed any of the committee.
Tracey Prescott
Like Sam and Angelina I have previously been involved in fundraising and for 2 years running I had my hair coloured neon pink for Breast Cancer awareness, a charity I have supported for 18yrs so far. I'm involved because I love my nephew Ashton and want to help where I can to support the amazing charitiy that is caring for him, my brother Martin and his partner Michelle. There support was there from the day that Ashton was recieving medical care at the Royal Marsden in Sutton. Our aim is to raise a minimum of £21,000 to be shared with CLIC Sargent and Henfield Leisure centre, who as a charity run organisation themselves need financial support so are hosting the week long event. Although it's most likely that I wont be running due to a current back problem ( someone sponsoring me obscene amounts of money may change my mind!!) I will be helping where I can to ensure the week event is an amazing success. We have some amazing people on board our committee that whole heartedly and voluntarily want to be involved to see Sam's vision be realised.
If you want to find out more info, have an idea or think you or your business can help in any way I can be contacted on 07944 372 927 or by email [email protected]

Malcolm Lane
Most people will recognise me as one of your local postman in the Henfield and Steyning area. I moved to Henfield in 1986 and soon settled into village life with both my daughters Becky and Charlotte attending St Peters school (my children still live in Henfield and 3 of my 4 grandchildren now attend St Peters school) Having run since school days and representing my schools in many track and field events I progressed in to running road and cross country 10k's and 10 milers and 1/2 marathons but this was to change. In 1990 having responded to an invitation to start a running club in Henfield Parish Magazine I found myself on the Kingsfield on April 1st (yes April fools day!!!) with 4 other like minded runners, one of these being Dr Malcolm McLean. Malcolm and I started the Henfield joggers. We went on to run the club for the next 10 years together with just the original members, up to 150 members over the years. This was to be my introduction into marathon and ultra running with so many options available.
The Henfield Leisure Centre at this time was nearly completed and I joined the original fund raising committee and soon the Henfield joggers were very much part of all the fund raising projects.
Time moves on and now 21 years on and I have run over 80 marathons worldwide, ultra runs Southdown way, the most Northerly of France to the most southerly of Spain (2273km), Norway to Henfield (1400 miles) and more.....However, I have another challenge ( thanks to Sam, why did I ever say yes??!!!) to run 7 marathons in 7 days, but the difference is its on a treadmill!!!, and I've never run on a treadmill before!! It wouldn't be a challenge if it was going to be easy and if it helps others less capable, I'm willing to give it my all....see you at the leisure centre cheers Malcolm..

Tim Jones
Hi my name is Tim Jones you might recognise me from around the Village as I am a local postman in Henfield/Beeding and Steyning,
I moved to Steyning in 2003 when I met my wife Samantha, we now have a two year old son Callum, who we both love to bit’s.
I joined the Royal mail 7 years ago which is where I met Malcolm Lane. I had always been a very keen runner back in my school days and I used to compete for Brighton & Hove athletics but had to stop due to a knee injury. Malcolm knew how keen I was to get running again and got me involved in local running events such as the Steyning round hill romp and the 6 mile run from Steyning to Henfield with both the local running clubs which I proved to be back on form coming 7th out of 55 runners in 32mins and doing the Romp 5k in 38mins coming 20th out of 498!
Malcolm realised I had potential and got me involved in the Brighton 10K run and then we went onto run the Brighton Marathon last year.
When I heard about this great cause I knew I had to get involved and asked to join the team 777.... and I will be doing the same as Malcolm and Sam and running a marathon each of the 7 days. I think I can be a great asset to this for Ashton to raise as much sponsorship for CLIC sergeant. Hope to see you all there for this great event!
All the best Tim Jones.

Angelina Andrews
Some of you may recognise me from St Peters Primary School - not only did both my children attend but I was Chair of the PTA for 3 years. Having previously raised over £1500 for cancer research I love a challenge and through my spinning classes at Henfield leisure centre Sam and I began to talk about her desire to raise a large sum of money for CLIC and Henfield Leisure Centre so I offered my time and knowledge and Sam said yes! . Ashton is an incredibly brave little boy who has already faced many challenges in his life that many of us as adults hope we never have to face. Ashton's parents deal with the constant battle of having to be strong for each other whilst giving Ashton as normal as life as possible and with the help and support of CLIC they are doing an incredible job. I know that my time to help raise funds and run one of the marathon's myself ( venue could be Gatwick Airport ...so keep an eye on the website for updates!) seems such a small part to play in giving CLIC the opportunity to continue to support families and children with Leukaemia in Sussex and across the UK. The leisure centre is an incredibly important part of the community within Henfield, my entire family have used the Leisure Centre over the last fourteen years, so to help maintain this vital facility is another worthwhile charity. There will be many events that we will be organising and everyone can get involved no matter how small, if you are interested in giving some time for these worthwhile charities then please contact me at [email protected]

I currently work at Henfield Leisure Centre as a fitness instructor, fitness class instructor and personal trainer. This will be my first major fundraising event but i am really excited about getting involved. My job is to help Sam to achieve a fantastic physical fitness that will help her through this tough task. I will also involve myself with two of the 49 marathons we are going to complete during this week in march 2012. I have never run a marathon before so i will need to train myself.
I am really looking forward to helping raise the money with everone and help the charitys further. Within my 6 years in the leisure industry i have created new and exciting options to improve myself throughout the years. I enjoy helping people achieve their set goals whether someone intends to run 7 marathons or to lose weight - i will always put in 110% and i will not stop until they are satisfied. I train myself on a regular basis every week and use new ideas and practice routines that i think will benefit all of my clients. I always make sure there is plenty of variety when training as this will help you achieve your goals quicker. Becoming a committee member for 777 fundraising has really helped with my career and set a new challenge for me. I know that Sam Bremner will complete 777 and i will make sure she has the best training she can get.
I have gained Level 3 advanced fitness instructor, Level 2 fitness instructor, Spinning instructor, Rebounding instructor , and First aid qualified. I am also on a nutrition and personal training advanced course.... I will let you know when I pass :-)
If you are looking to train for anything imparticular, for yourself or would like some information please contact me on - 07540118558

As a Henfield resident for many years I have been involved in many sporting activities that generally revolve around the Leisure Centre and to help and support another charity at the same time - CLIC Sargent - is something I readily was happy to be involved in. As for running participation mmmmmm ... watch this space!
